FAQ - LED Light Mask

What is LED Light Therapy and how does it work?

LED stands for "Light-Emitting Diode", a semiconductor diode which glows when a voltage is applied.

The LED Light Therapy Mask emits therapeutic wavelengths of light energy.  The light wavelengths are emitted into the skin, even though this process cannot be felt and is not painful.  The light is absorbed into the skin to a depth of 8 to 10 millimeters.  At this depth the light has a positive effect on cellular energy and metabolic processes.  Once absorbed by our body, light’s energy is converted into cell energy.  This conversion initiates a series of metabolic events like the formation of new capillaries, the stimulation of the production of collagen and the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP’s primary function is to supply usable energy to our cells.

Tiny particles of light are called photons, which cells absorb and transform into ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the form of energy that cells use to carry out normal functions.  ATP is then used to power the metabolic process and repair and regenerate cells.  In short, LEDs can have a similar stimulating effect on skin cells by jump-starting the rejuvenation process.  Not all lights are created equal. Different wavelengths of light have different benefits.

At-Home Treatment

The non-invasive nature of the at-home LED Light Mask means side-effects are almost non-existent except perhaps a few minutes of pinkness immediately following the treatment. Virtually no downtime.

It is easier than ever to have at-home LED therapy with the LED Light Mask.  It is also more desirable because it can be used more often, for better long-term results.

How to use LED Light Mask at home

Once you have your LED Light Mask, there are a few important steps to follow:

1.  Clean your face, make sure your face and neck is freshly cleaned.  After it is cleaned, make sure to put on your desired skin products.  (Another step you can add is to use a derma roller on your skin, before applying your skincare products.)

2.  Insert the USB connector into the end of the wire on the LED mask.

3.  Put on the mask (To use this particular device you lay down and place it over your face and neck).  You will notice the red light covering the entire mask. Note: The light intensity is low, if you feel a little uncomfortable, you can close your eyes.

4.  You can use the remote control to change different colors.

5.  We recommend 20-minute sessions every day for a month.
Followed by 1 to 2 sessions per week to maintain the benefits of light therapy.

LED Light Therapy devices (at-home devices) are safe to use as often as everyday.  Make sure to monitor your progress with before and after photos of freshly clean skin.

LED Light Therapy is not an overnight treatment, and everyone will respond differently.  But regular use over time with the right light color for your skin will deliver great results.

What color to choose when doing LED Light Therapy

Our LED Light Mask offers 7 different colors, and it is important to choose the color that is right for your skin and your skin concerns.

Each color has a different wavelength of light, and different wavelengths produce different chemical reactions within your skin.  Longer wavelengths means that it will penetrate deeper into the skin.  If you have extra sensitive skin you may want to avoid the lights that penetrate deeper.

7 Color Light Spectroscopy:
  • Red Light (Red-630nm) - Anti-wrinkle Mode

Red light rays promote collagen production via increased blood circulation in the area.  It penetrates about 8 to 10 mm into your skin.  Collagen is an essential protein to repair skin elasticity.  It assist with repairing damaged skin, tender skin, anti-wrinkle, smooth the fine wrinkles and shrink pores.

*For some people who suffer from melasma, using the red light may darken the melasma spots.

  • Blue Light (Blue-470nm) - Acne Eraser Mode

Blue light rays are proven to destroy acne-causing bacteria, minimize pores and heal acne faster.  Bacteria in acne release Porphyrins, when porphyrins absorb light of certain wavelengths (Blue light), free radical damage is produced, and this destroys the bacteria.  The benefit of using blue LED light to treat acne is that is does not cause any dryness or peeling like some topical prescription products would.  It's pain-free and has no downtime.

In addition, the blue light has calming actions which is very effective for hypersensitivity.

  • Green Light (Green-520nm) - Balance Skin Conditions

Green light rays can balance the color pigment, reduce fine lines, improve ageing skin, speed up the healing process of wounds, and lightens the skin.  This mode assist in balancing skin conditions and relieve mental stress effectively.

Green light has proven its ability to reduce melasma and other skin discoloration problems, hyper pigmentation, dark circles under the eyes, facial redness, rosacea, vitiligo, and sun damaged skin.

  • Yellow Light (Yellow-590nm) - Increases Immunity

Yellow light rays will work at a special 590nm wavelength, therefore it can effectively improve the circulation of oxygen in the skin cells.  The oxygen replenishes skin cells energy, promoting lymphatic drainage, decomposing pigment, improving wrinkles and help to cure rough skin conditions.  It can naturally increase the skin's immunity and assist to improve ringworm (fungal infection) conditions.

*Yellow Light Therapy is great for sensitive skin because it is calming and soothing.

  • Purple Light (Dual light mode of Red and Blue) - Heal Acne Scars
Purple light rays are a combination of two kinds of phototherapy, red and blue dual-band light.  This light is specifically used for repairing and healing of acne scars.  The Purple light is great for someone concerned with premature aging, as well as adult acne.
  • Cyanine Light - Promote Metabolism
Cyanine light rays penetrate the skin deeply, enhancing cell energy gradually, which can be very helpful to increase your metabolism.  This can assist in promoting skin collagen growth as well and help in whitening your skin.  Improves the appearance of fine lines and sagging skin.
  • White Light (Laser Light) - Tightens Sagging Skin

White light rays also penetrate the skin deeply, speeding up the metabolism of active tissue.  It can assist in tightening sagging skin, decompose color spots, improve the appearance of fine lines and ageing skin.

The white LED light penetrates the deepest into the skin, compared to the other LED light therapy colors, because it has the longest wavelength.  The white light is very rejuvenating for the skin and can help with a variety of skin problems.

How long will it take to see results?

Most people see initial results after regular use ranging from 4 to 6 weeks.  Many people see results as quickly as 3 weeks!

Each person's skin will respond differently to LED light therapy, some much faster than others, depending on their current lifestyle habits like diet, alcohol consumption, smoking habits, age and skin conditions.

Most important is to remember that this technology works, it's just a matter of time as mentioned above.  LED light therapy has also been scientifically proven.

Is the LED Light Mask safe to use during pregnancy?

LED facial masks have been said to be 100% safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.  Please still consult with your medical doctor first before use.

In rare cases LED therapy may cause allergies in pregnant women, children, light allergic people, people with thyroid disease and people who use high doses of medical drugs.
